Alethea has warned the village of Talleth that their Wardstone that her mother had resurrected to protect the village of predators, will be destroyed in one month.  Her mother had put all of her powers into the Wardstone which eventually took her life force when Alethea was born.  Now that Alethea has grown up and has powers of her own and she wants revenge.  Rhys, a dragon/human shifter, has been sent by the Dragon Council to stop Alethea.  He has also been chosen to be her mate and protector.  Rhys not only must to subdue Alethea’s anger that has built up over the years but he has to prove to her that he is worthy of being her mate.

Viola Grace has crafted an intriguing and erotic romantic fantasy.  Alethea is filled with anger making her powers uncontrollable.  She is bent on revenge yet she doesn’t want to hurt the innocent.  Rhys is a human warrior who shifts into dragon form.  He is intelligent, kind and the ideal match for Alethea.  When he is in her proximity, he loses his control and becomes very protective towards her.  His insatiable sexual appetite produces intense and sensual sex scenes.  Rhys actually forbids Alethea to wear any clothing while they are secluded in a part of his sister-in-law’s house.  This not only allows Rhys to seduce Alethea but it enables them to get to know each other more intimately.  I found that the more time Rhys and Alethea spent together, the stronger their bond became and the more I wanted their union to overcome their odds.  The secondary characters, both good and bad, helped unfold an interesting plot.  At the beginning of the story, I wasn’t quite sure what the purpose of all these characters were until I read further into the story and then everything started to take shape.  I enjoyed Ms. Grace’s attention to details.  The scenery and atmosphere of the story gave a realistic feel to this fantasy/mystical world equipped with dragons, healers and powerful magic.  I enjoyed Devon, Rhys’ brother, who provided the humor in this intense tale.  I hope to see future stories of Devon and the woman who captures his heart.  A part of the Seven Sins and Virtues series that can be read separately, this entertaining tale will surely appeal to those who are fans of romantic fantasy.
